    王迈的艺术，就像是成人的童话，我们可以从他的艺术语言中感受到其对于当代流行元素和中国传统的造型都抱有了极大的兴趣，夸张的和幻想的形象成为他的基本语言，但是他把这种语言与有关“世界”的主题联系在一起。他的作品试图反映今日世界普遍的消费文化特征，而这种特征又是与经济全球主义紧密相连的，他用废弃的工业材料手工制作成一组组石油怪兽，也制作成现代生活中最常见的加油站，让人们看到全球化条件下围绕资源的消费与竞争，也建立起一种新的物质生活与精神生活的关系。

    Wang Mai's art is just like a fairy tale for adults. We can feel from his art expressions that he is great interested in the contemporary popular elements and the Chinese traditional styles. The exaggerated and fantastic images have become his basic expression. But he put this expression linked with the "world" theme. His work attempts to reflect the general characteristic of consumption culture in today's world, which is closely linked to the economy globalism. He makes a set of oil monster by using the abandoned industrial production. And also the gas station, which is the most common in the modern life. These works let people see the consumption and competition of the resources under the conditions of globalization and also establish a new relationship of material life and spiritual life.

    面对王迈的“石油怪”系列作品，我们会感到“惊愕”与“失语”。惊愕的是，他用如此迷幻的手法制作成了一个个形貌怪异的形象。它们拥有奇怪的结构，占据着足够的空间，其中极为丰富的细节更具有对日常经验的挑战性，如同天外来客般超出人的想象。----中国美术馆馆长 范迪安

      Facing “Oil Monster” Series of Wang Mai, we can feel “shocked” and “aphasia”. Feel shocked, because he made these strange monsters by using such magic ways. They have strange structures, cover enough space. And some extremely rich details are challenging the daily experience. It’s beyond the human’s imagination as an alien from the outer space.
