    Dragon Bones is a solo exhibition of works by Anhui-born, Beijing based artist, Li Shuguang.

    Though his name means 'dawn' literally, the artist is ironically, more mesmerized by the glowing resplendence of sunsets in the metropolitan. In most of his fable-like paintings, he places his subjects against the backdrop of vibrant skylines captured in the bewitching hours of twilight.

    Distancing himself from contemporary artists who equate contemporary art to conceptual art, Li Shuguang prefers to pursue his own unique narrative to dispel the notion that aesthetically pleasing and thought provoking art have to be mutually exclusive. Using the language of art, he examines the conflict between urban civilization and nature, defends the dignity of life and questions the ultimate fate of humanity.

 Regardless of the setting, his pictorial compositions reflect his astute observations as well as the sensitivity of his nature. Filled with a sense of naivety and humour which borders on the bizarre at times, Li Shuguang's works are both poignantly beautiful and intellectually engaging.
